Andrew Goodwin argues that in music videos 'narrative relations are highly complex' and meaning can be created from the individual audio viewers musical personal taste to sophiscated intertextuality that uses multidiscursive phenomena of western culture. Many are dominated by advertising references, film pastiche and reinforce the postmodern 're-use' tradition.
Blink 182 supported this arguement when they parody'd a backstreet boys video. They were trying to say beauty shouldnt be perceptuated and therefore shown their own take on music video.
